Tonight we’ll be discussing various ways of attracting readers, highly targeted and shotgun effect, to your blog. We’ll also add the caveat “without spending any extra cash” as on buying clicks or placing ads that cost more than you want to spend.

Ken Cook will be facilitating and you will be bringing the knowledge with you. We’ll have about 6 statements/questions as topic starters and the conversation, as always, will get lively from there.

You will need a Twitter account to participate but you can watch without one at http://twitter.com/#!/search?q=%23tuethun although the best way is with a third party application like http://tweetgrid.com/grid?l=1&q1=twitter&q2=%23tuethun or by going to http://tweetchat.com/room/tuethun where you will not have to enter the hashtag (#tuethun) every time you tweet!

See you there.

On Tuesday 10/19 we will talk about what to expect from tracking, how to track, how to respond to what the community is saying about you and share some examples of how it has succeeded and failed for others.

Many thanks to Warren Whitlock and his Amplify on “Top 10 Ways to Make Twitter Your Brand’s Best Friend” which you can read at this link.

If you have never joined up in a live chat in the Twitter stream it’s really simple. There are multiple tools to help you track and join the conversation and as sure as I mention a couple there will be people who tell you why the one they use is better – and it may well be! Personally I use TweetGrid (http://TweetGrid.com) and set the panels 1 high by 3 wide … you’ll see when you get there.

I set my left panel to monitor @TheKenCook, the center panel to monitor #TueThun and the right panel to monitor whatever else I am into that night …. #Yankees for example.

Very simple to use is TweetChat.com and follow #TueThun. If you don’t know about # hashtags you’ll learn quickly! You do need a Twitter account to join. They are free from http://Twitter.com and you’ll need to be logged in. It’s really about that simple. You really can’t mess up!

Guerrilla Social Media Marketing

Guerrilla Social Media Marketing

I recently interviewed Shane Gibson, co-author of “Guerrilla Social Media Marketing”, on Social Media Edge radio. Shane teamed with Jay Conrad Levinson who coined the term “Guerrilla Marketing” almost 3 decades ago. Since then quite literally millions and millions of people have embraced the Guerrilla approach to marketing.

On Tuesday 10/12 we’re going to talk about a few points from Shane’s new book, a few points from my experience and a whole bunch of input from you!

To join us:

Experienced users get there however you can and monitor #TueThun on Twitter.

Otherwise:

This Tuesday October 5 at 9PM Eastern http://tweetchat.com/room/tuethun (sign into Twitter) we’re talking about QR codes. QR is “quick response” and when you use one just once you’ll be quick to recognize their power.

QR Codes - what are they and how do I use them?I little less than a year ago I used a QR code, like the one pictured here, as my Twitter and Facebook image. Hardly anyone knew what they were and I spend a good deal of time explaining them and why I believed they would soon be prolific both on and offline.

By now virtually everyone has seen one and may or may not know what they are – simply put they are a graphical representation of text which can include contact information, a short message (SMS) or even a URL to a website. The one used in the image on this page, in fact, leads to the URL for Social Media Edge. It could just as easily lead to a map page, an invitation to a special event page or a home listing.

QR codes are here. Some religious people may think they are the precursor to an evil coming into the world – and they may be – but for now they are a tool to be used for sales, invitations, publicity (PR), inventory tracking, communication, and more. The uses are limited only by your applications.

Join us on Tuesday at 9PM Eastern – 6PM Pacific for Tuesday Thunder http://tweetchat.com/room/tuethun and let’s put some lightning in a jar so we can take it out at the right time and use it for its best purpose.

We’re on again! Summer has been long and filled with travel and events. The kids are back in school and the evenings are getting cooler. There is no football on Tuesday night and even if there is you can do tweetavision!

Tuesday, September 28 from 9PM to 10PM eastern at http://tweetchat.com/room/tuethun

Watch the twitter stream for #tuethun (you can set a TweetBeep or use your favorite tool) for the topic. Currently slated is WordPress101 for people who do not have a WP account whether on wordpress.com or wordpress.org (self hosted). If you already have one you may learn a bit about security, seo, how to find good plugins (what a plugin is and does), etc.

A few WP specialists have been invited to participate and we hope they can join in. If not the hosts have plenty of WP experience in managing their own accounts and creating accounts for others as well as developing custom WP themes, plugins and widgets.

Joining the discussion could not be simpler but you do need a Twitter account even if you create one just for participating in the chats. Discussion will include how to setup a Facebook business page, how to use Facebook’s pay-per-click or impression marketing system and how to profit from your presence on Facebook. We will be joined by members of the social media community at large and some will have deep experience to share while others may have service for hire availability.

If you are a restaurateur, insurance rep, small publisher, plumber, hair stylist, or pastor of a small church – or anything in between – you will benefit from the investment of these few moments to hear from seasoned pros of online community building.

If you would like more information on becoming a Lightning Rod (Ambassador) simply complete the short form online and someone will contact you as quickly as possible.

Simply put it is time to put some thunder in small business. The economy for many small business owners and operators has been unbearable for the last several months. As incoming revenue has decreased the costs of operations, in many cases, has increase.

The focus of Tuesday Thunder is every type of small business there can be from plumbers to bakers, consultants to insurance salesmen. Any independent contractors like real estate agents, couriers and pest control professionals will greatly benefit from Tuesday Thunder.

Where Tuesday Thunder goes is up to you, the Lightning Rods – organizers of your own community.

How often you meet, if you meet in person or online, whether you have a well organized machine or a very fluid group of people working together to find resources and solutions is up to you.

There is one rule so far: You must share your resources and solutions with all Tuesday Thunder participants here on TuesdayThunder.com

Starting Tuesday, April 27th at 9PM Eastern we will be holding open chat sessions in the Twitter public stream. To participate simply go to http://tweetchat.com/room/tuethun and follow the chat. If you don’t have a Twitter account or if you don’t get it this is your chance to try it in an isolated, openly engaging forum. Just remember – everything you type goes into the public stream and is published in the Library of Congress.
